The Law Is Death, We Are Not Under The Law

posted by PrayerWarrior

As I was hearing from the Lord about doing this article I cannot tell you how many people came after me about this very subject I knew for sure the Lord wanted this done and now! I have not written for my blog for a long time but have found I just must do this now, as it was insane how inundated I have been by attacks for my not doing the law.

We are not under the law, we cannot be saved nor sanctified by the law. As a matter of fact those who have put themselves under the law again, have fallen from grace!! Gal 5:4 Here are some great scriptures to explain this understanding!

Acts 15:10, Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
We only ever knew that we were sinning because of the law, which no one ever was able to live up to the standards of the law. Never was there anyone who could do it wholly and or perfectly thus the animal sacrifices and the times the Lord had set for the people to atone for their sins by the shedding of blood.

Jesus being the pure, sinless, flawless, unblemished, perfect lamb of God, was the one time only needed sacrifice, to free us from the letter of the law which was itself flawed. The law was just a foreshadowing of Our need for the Savior. Jesus work on the cross has set those who have accepted His sacrifice, and have repented of their sin and continually walk in contrition and repentance, free!

Romans 4:14-15 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: 15 because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. See here? If we continue to act out the law and hold ourselves up to the standard of the law, then grace is worthless and Jesus work was not according to you, enough to atone for your sins.
Romans 5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. How do people really fool themselves into thinking that this does not mean what it says? Unless the Lord says this is a parable it is meant to be taken literally.

Romans 7:1-12, Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? 2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. 3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

{I just have to add here, to those who were divorced before they became a Christian, When you repented and were baptized in the water, you died with Christ to your old life, and were born anew into the life of Christ, that life before your true repentant conversion, does not exist further. You are no longer alive to self, but now alive in Christ, as Gal 2:20 says no longer I who lives but Christ who lives in me. So the old you with it’s past sins died as surely as if your body were put in the grave!}

4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. 5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. 6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. 9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. 10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. 12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

It goes on to say that even though men had the law they kept sinning anyway, the law is to show that we need the savior because we cannot live up to the law. Paul was showing us in verses 13 through to the end, that in himself he could not do the law even though he wanted to do the law he could not for the things he did not want to do (not sin) he did anyway, and the things he did want to do he did not do in his own strength. But thank God for Christ who can do it all without sinning.

Romans 8:2-3 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Romans 10:1-4 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

See the above? Christ put an end to the law. His finished work on the cross fulfilled the requirements of the law. It is finished is what He said! Meaning I have done all that needed to be done in order to save my people to bring them back into a close personal relationship with myself, that i may save them. He wrote now the laws on our hearts and without having to outwardly do them, we automatically know without being told how to live up to God’s standards by surrendering our lives to the Lord to be Lord over our lives to reign in every part of our lives.

Paul was hoping and pleading for Israel to become saved, not by doing the law which no man could do but by accepting Christ, that they might be saved not to go back and do the law but to move forward in Christ’s body. Okay the Lord just said to me this very simple thing, if Christ is the head of the body and you are a part of the body why are you contrarily not allowing Christ the head, to lead the body? Why is Christ the head on the body with the brain, not then allowed to control all members of that body?

He is sinless He is righteous, He is perfect and it is no longer you who lives, {an island separate from the rest of the body, which belongs to Christ} but we are all to walk as one in Him. He does not do the Law, He is the law, He is the word. So our freedom from the law comes by walking in Him. He is the Sabbath rest, walking in Him makes us keeping the Sabbath without outwardly observing one day. Besides which, I personally feel every single day that I am worshiping Him and loving Him, no one day is holier than any other!

1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
2 Corinthians 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraved in stone, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather more glorious?

2 Corinthians 3:9-11, 14,15, For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
14 but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.
Do you supposed Christian who is under the law by your own choosing, have that veil upon your heart? You do! You are blinding yourself to truth! Repent of your not believing Christ was and is enough!

Galatians 2:16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified., 19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God! Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Galatians 3:1-4,10-13 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? 4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Gal 3:16-19, 16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. 18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. This shows us and means Abraham was promised all of the land He was promised the earth as His inheritance, not because of the law, but because he believed the Lord when He spoke to him.

Gal 3:21-29 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Galatians 5:1-4 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Ephesians 2:15 having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Philippians 3:4-8, 4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

1 Timothy 1:8-11 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; 9 knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; 11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

Hebrews 7:16-19 who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. 17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchisedec. 18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

Hebrews 8:7-8 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. 8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: He was talking about His death and resurrection!
Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

To try and keep the laws is foolishness of the highest order. We are shown repeatedly through Paul the apostle to the gentiles, that the law is not good. James Tells us if you transgress one part of the law, lie steal cheat do the Sabbath wrong, then you are guilty of transgressing the whole of the law, and are then guilty of it all. Look the word tells us over and over again that the law is for those who are not in the Lord they will be held to the standards of the law but not those who are in Christ. Jesus justifies us not the law. Jesus stands before the Father and says can’t hold one sin against this one he/she is mine! I paid the price for them.

All this said friends, that does not however give us the right to go and sin for if we willfully sin that is considered walking all over the son of God and you will be repaid! It remains that those who walk all over the son will burn for eternity. Is eternity worth it to you to be wrong? You might instead of seeking men’s thoughts and ideas about the Lord and all of His teaching in the word, seek the lord in prayer. Always asking for forgiveness of your sins that your prayers may be heard!

Blessings in the Lord
