A Thorn In The Flesh

posted by PrayerWarrior

What was Pauls Thorn in the flesh? Well I can tell you even as a child I knew a thorn in ones side was not physical. It was speaking in metaphors. I heard it most often from women saying oh that daughter, or oh that son, that one there is a real thorn in my side. They were not speaking of anything physical their children were doing to them. They were speaking of the troubles that particular child put them through. Worries and fears for their child was what they were speaking of.

Paul was not married and had no children so let’s look at bible verses in other books of the word to find out just what a thorn in the side or the flesh was speaking about elsewhere. We know the Lord is always the same and the Holy Spirit gave utterance to all those who wrote the word. So in that vien let us continue on knowing the Lord does not change now or ever. What He has said and done before He will always say and do again. I can promise you this subject is one of the harder ones to study, there are simply not enough people who know about the bible verses that speak of thorns in the flesh, old or new testament.

Smith Wigglesworth himself said many times over, to people who claimed to have a thorn in their flesh, like Pauls, Oh so your so holy and so filled with the power of the Lord that you need something to keep you from being prideful? Oh how I had to chuckle at that. The man was renouned for the ability to reach the hardest hearts for the Lord. He was known for the amazing healing sermons. May I suggest to any who have some serious pain, and or made up ailment that was introduced in the last twenty or so years, go read the complete works of Smith Wigglesworth? The Lord would have you healed of this!

First let’s look at Pauls account of his thorn in the flesh, which he clearly says is spiritual. 2 Cor 12:7-9 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Now do not be fooled by the word infirmities, You can be mentally infirm, and spiritually infirm.

You can have a buffet that is spiritual which causes you much problems by reminding you of past sins, ad nauseum. I have had this on a few occassions and I just keep rebuking, or binding the mouth of the spirit. Satan loves to remind us of our past, keeping us there is a good thing in the mind of a demon, because living in the past does not afford a good look at the present. The Lord wants us living in the present. A good way to get rid of thoughts of the past is to do what Paul says in Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Now then let’s take a look at Old Testament verses containing a thorn in the flesh. Well in this case a thorn in the eyes. Joshua 23:13 “Know for a certainty that the Lord your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you”. Well lookie here this means bothersome anoying problematic. This is not physical maladies, But that they would cause them all kinds of troubles. Read the verses before and after to get the understanding of what the Lord was saying here.

Let’s go on then, in Numbers 33:55 “But if you will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which you let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein you dwell”. Vex means = To annoy, as with petty importunities; to bother. So can you see this was something that bothered Paul vexed him annoyed him. I cannot personally imagine or consider even the possibility that the Lord would have a vessel of healing and all manner of spiritual gifts to be plagued by an illness himself. No Paul was not blind nor did he have a limp or any such thing.

Paul would merely hold a napkin and it be brought to ones bedside and they were instantly healed. Now that is amazingly awesome. People would work to stand in the Apostles (all of them) shadows, and receive healing. To decide your like paul and have to suffer that it is the Lord’s will for you friends is a sad miscalculation. God does not will for His own to suffer but to believe unto healing. Sadly for way too many years it has been taught that the gifts were not present in this life. They are here! It is not even the one who is doing the praying over you whose faith has to be huge, but your own faith will heal you.

Let’s take a look at some of what Jesus Himself said to those whose healing was done due to their own faith. Matt 9:20-22 Matt 9:27-30, according to your faith be it unto you, Mark 5:25-34. Before this in Mark 2:3-5 these friends faith was enough for Jesus to bring a miracle about for the man with the Palsy. I am not writing out all these verses I am told i write entirely too long articles for my site. LOL. I have a lot to say when I write, and I love and live for the word of GOD. Mark 10:52 a blind man heard Jesus was there and was yelling out for His attention. The people told him to quiet down but he yelled all the louder, the Lord restored his site and told him your faith has made you whole.

Matt 15:28 He told the woman her faith had healed her daughter!! Luke 17:19 Your faith has made you whole go thy way. Then in His own home town of Nazareth, Jesus could do no miracles but some petty small oes because they did not believe. They had no faith for healing. Let’s look at that story for a moment. Mark 6:4-6, 4 But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” 5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.
No miraculous things for they had no faith.

Now back to the message at hand. The thorn in Pauls flesh. In Judges 2:3 “Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.” See again troublesome, bothersome, annoying but not physical. Let’s look at the word buffet and it’s meaning. To buffet means to strike against repeatedly or to batter, the example best used is the waves buffeted the rocks. We know when one is in the ocean near a rocky outcropping and they are trying to get out of the water the waves crashing into the rocks, and pulling back away, makes it nearly impossible to get out. It would hamper you from achieving your goal of getting out of the water. This spirit that was sent from satan to buffet Paul, was not physical.

One mans report on this says that it was the people the Jews and the gentiles alike, was the problem. I am not sure I agree with that. I think Paul was made of much sterner stuff than that. I know personally with my own son coming against me in every way possible, I have been strengthened by the Lord to guard my heart against the pain of my sons hatred. People who are not my family who come against me, simply do not hold that kind of power to hurt me. I am not after mans approval neither was Paul. Now this is only my opinion and not at all a defining statement, I think Pauls thorn had to do with his past. I can see nothing else that would cause him to ask the Lord to be released from it other than some past sin that the spirits have brought back again and again to the forefront of the mans thoughts.

Now I am not claiming to be wonderful or anything like that, in what I will say next because I know I am nothing at all without the Lord. That all said i have one sin that comes back at me again and again and again. It makes me shake my head and wince every time it comes back to my thoughts. I have begged god over and over to help me get past it, and still it comes again and again. Even though I know I am forgiven it still bites me every so often.

What I do know is what I have prayed many times to the Lord. Lord help me to be humble. Do not allow me to get prideful. I do wonder, if this is the way in which the Lord keeps me from getting all prideful. Don’t get me wrong Ihave pride LOL but my pride is in being used of the Lord. I know I am a tool in His hand, and this gives me pride that He would think to use me. That is the only place I have any kind of pride or also that He shows me truth and no human nor angel can change my mind from what the Lord has shown me! I choose very carefully whom I listen to. I will have to stand before the Lord and explain myself one day. I will have to explain why I believed or did not believe truth or lies.

In weakness we find out how very strong God is and that truly His grace is sufficient to see us through anything we have to go through. I love that saying (no it is not in the bible) if God brought you to it He will bring you through it. It is so true if we but believe. We can do nothing on our but Christ do it through us. It is no longer I who lives but Christ who lives in me! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. These verses come to mind every time I think on that saying.

Blessings in Christ Jesus!

Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. I see this often used as a verse to say that God said, He will not always have his Spirit striving with man, so therefore it must be the Holy Spirit that restrains sin and as soon as the church is removed from the earth then sin will be free to take hold. They do not understand that unless the Holy Spirit make one say Jesus is Lord, they wont say it, think, or feel it.

So let’s see what did Jesus have to say about all of this. Let’s see how Jesus meant the Holy Spirit to be used during the time He is here, and when we (humans) will no longer need Him, (the Holy Spirit) here.

The Work of the Holy Spirit

John 16:5-15 “But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

So Jesus is saying if He is here there is no need of the Holy Spirit to be here, and God would not send Him? But if he goes then the father will send the what? The comforter! So then we see in 1 Corinthians 12:1-3 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 2 You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

Oh, Oh dear, look at that! Paul says in verse 3 no one can call Jesus Lord except by the Holy Spirit. That in itself says clearly, no one would, ever could, come to the Lord if the Holy Spirit were not present. Therefore though the people believing these discombobulated notions as truth, have a chink in the argument that they cannot fight against, they stubbornly stick to their guns and say it is spiritually discerned. But I tell you the truth they have no spirit of truth in them. No one can come to the Father by any other means than through the Son, and the Holy Spirit has to give them that knowledge, that Christ is Lord.

If the Holy Spirit is not here, and Christ is not here, then no one could or would be saved in the times of the tribulation. Then now let’s think of the 144,000. They are spirit led men of God. Doing miraculous things in the time of the tribulation. Man can do nothing other than by the Holy Spirit. There would be no tongues to speak to people all over the planet, in languages they never used before. There could be no healing ministries, no knowledge no wisdom, none of it would be going on. Yet the Lord says in the end times He will pour out His spirit fully upon all men women, and children even. Acts 2:17, Joel 2:28.

Even those who believe in a pre tribulation rapture cannot deny that the Lord said this. So how could it be that His spirit has departed but people are still acting on the spiritual gifts? It is a major contradiction. So then you have those who say it is a mid tribulation rapture. But still those also believe in two separate comings of the Lord. Yet the bible speaks clearly of one time only. The day of the Lord as Jesus return. You also then have those who say that the 6th seal is the rapture and though they are right, they are also wrong because they believe in two separate comings of the Lord Jesus. They also believe that the trumpet and vial judgments are separate from the seals and that is not true.

Then we also have Paul speaking of the 7th or last trumpet and Christ coming, as does Christ also speak of the trump of God, and the angels being sent out to gather his people from the four winds. From the four corners of the earth. They both speak of the angel shouting which is also present at the 6th seal the 7th trumpet and the 7th vial. The word of God is truth and not only truth but so simple of truth. Remember He made the truth simple to confound the wise. Or those who believe themselves wise. But they have earthly wisdom which is not Godly wisdom, 1 Cor 1:27. I wish that people stopped allowing men to speak into their hearts and would just allow, nothing but the Holy Spirit to speak. For He alone speaks truth, men will muddy up those good clean waters that the Holy Spirit pours out.

The holy spirit is God who lives in us, when we are immersed in the Holy Spirit. It is a separate thing from being born again. Let’s look at what Jesus said about this as well. Matt 3:11 “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. So John the baptist could only baptize one in water. But Jesus was there to baptize in the Holy Spirit with Fire. There is a difference it is clear to see. In John 14:26 Jesus said, But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Let’s look closer at what Jesus had to say about the Holy Spirit!

Luke 11:13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” John 14:15-18 15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. So Jesus is telling us in essence as long as the Holy spirit is sent to us, He Jesus is with us!

John 20:21-23 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.” This was after Jesus came back from the dead. But he also told them to wait until the day of pentecost before they went to do anything. Why would he do that? Because without the full blown baptism of the Holy Spirit they would simply be men doing what men can do and not men used of the Holy Spirit. They would be powerless to do the works of the Lord. I believe when He breathed on them that He was marking them with the seal of God. That they would be the first to receive the power of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:4,5 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” You see just one book later, and a mere chapter later, from John’s last chapter of the book of John, The Lord told them do nothing until the gift the Father promised has come upon you.
Now let’s look at what happened when the Holy Spirit was poured out on them the day of pentecost.

Acts 2:1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. The people near heard it all too and were astounded they thought they were drunk but not because of their actions, but because they spoke in other languages.

Acts 2:5-13 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?” 13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”

WARNING!! This is not an endorsement for being drunk in the Spirit. There is no such thing as that! That is a false disgusting thing that will destroy your spirit life and lead you astray. Stay away from people and pastors who teach such a false doctrine. If it is not in the Bible then it does not belong in your Christian life.

Moving forward there is much more to discuss about the Holy Spirit.John 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. See this, none can do anything but the Holy Spirit be upon them. It is the very anointing of the Holy Spirit which gives anyone anywhere the ability to perform the gifts and works of the Lord. Also We cannot even retain or understand anything the word says lest the Holy Spirit be upon us. Look at 1 John 2:26-27 has to say about this.

1 John 2:26-27 26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. look at that with the power of the Holy Spirit upon you giving you eyes to see and ears to hear, you need no one to teach you anything. The Holy Spirit teaches us in truth, there is no lie in Him. Men will lie to you and hurt and cheat you.

John 3:5-8 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” So now think about that would you? Jesus said one must be born of Water and Spirit.

If one is not born of the Spirit, or baptized in the Holy Spirit, or Immersed in Him, then you cannot even see heaven. It is separate from being born again. It is the next step up into the power of the Holy Spirit. The power to be able to walk in thegifts to speak boldly to have faith wisdom knowledge and all the gifts of the Spirit. We need to show the friuts of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Notice the word “And” between water and spirit. That does not say they are the same thing. Paul and all the apostles said the same thing, but have you been baptized in the spirit?

Why would they ask that if a person said they were born again or baptized into repentance? Why then must they ask the question but were you baptized in the Holy Spirit? Acts chapters 2,8,19, Because there is a difference. When one is on their death bed and accept the Lord there is no need to be baptized in the holy Spirit, they are not going to be working.

Though if they were to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, I can just about guarantee you, they would be healed instantly. But no one seems to understand in our day and age the very power of the Grace of God and the very power that we hold at our fingertips, if we but believe it. The problem is no one believes without wavering in our time. We have all been taught that the healing and well all of the gifts are not here.

We need to overcome this with the power of the Holy Spirit and ask for a huge measure of faith like we have never had before. Then sit back and watch the Lord give you what you ask for. How much more liberal would the Lord be, if we but asked for the right things? He would give until it hurts, if you trusted Him to do so. God is lavish with the gifts when we ask and then leave it alone.

What I mean by ask and leave it alone, is just ask Him once, then leave it at His throne and leave it alone. Do not come back and ask again just trust that what you have asked in the name of Jesus will be given to you. You do not have to ask again, worry it over in your mind and hope and hope and hope you’ll get it! Just trust and believe that at the first and only asking, it will be done! God is so faithful if we just show Him we believe in Him and His promises.

Lets Look at the Old Testament promises of the Holy Spirit! Jesus said after He was glorififed the Holy Spirit would come upon us. I personally think that Jesus uses fully the Holy Spirit when He is here and it cannot nor needs to be shared when He is present. For He is God/Son/Holy Spirit!

Ezekiel 36:26-27, the Lord says, “I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my ways.” Joel 2:28 also tell us the same as Acts 2:17.‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. Just a little something to ponder for you. When the Bereans were searching the scriptures for the truth being spoken by Paul and all apostles they did not have the new testament as of yet. So they had to be searching the old testament.

In searching the old Testament comparing verses to the New Testament I have found so many verses that cross reference one another. I have at times put those up on my facebook. I find that a lot of fun, to see the concepts of them and see clearly the word of God does not contradict itself. If for some reason you find anything that contradicts itself, it is your understanding that is flawed, or someone elses bad teaching.
The Holy Spirit is a He not just anything or a what or an it. The Holy Spirit is fully a part of the God head, the great three in one.

We must have the Holy Spirit in order to be saved, because you cannot see heaven unless you are baptized into the Holy Spirit as well as in water. Did you know, do you realize that when at first people became saved it was by being immersed in water and to the remission or repentance of sin? They were baptized in water unto repentance! How crazy is that? I wonder when did people decide to stop baptizing people into salvation? We have fallen so far away from the way it all worked in the beginning. It is our job through the power of the Holy Spirit to find where it all went wrong and come back to the true only way, which is Jesus Christ!

Peter in Acts 2:38,39 says 38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” NOW I WANT YOU PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to those words of Peters! To all ALL whom the Lord calls! We are all called out! The Gifts of the Holy Spirit were not just for the apostles. It is the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit which gives us boldness and wisdom and knowledge and all the gifts. Notice also this is separate from being born again!

The book of Acts must be read by all of us and very carefully so as not to miss the importance of pentecost. Pentecost was not a one time thing a one day only thing. It happens still, as long as the Holy Spirit is here, moving upon men and women, and even children, He is still here until the last day! I do not understand how people can allow themselves to be misled, by fallible human beings. When the word of God, is the final, and in my opinion, only authority on all subjects having to do with the bible. But then again if one does not believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and that it is a separate baptism from the water baptism, they do not have the power to see hear, or know truth!

How sad it will be to see millions upon millions go to hell who lived a good life. One in which they thought they were doing the works of the Lord, but alas only to find out they did them on their own esteem, and that all in all they were dead works.Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
A dead work is any work that we perform which has not been called for and begun by the Holy Spirit.

Assuming that you have accepted Christ as your savior, and repented, I hope you have repented! If not then your being lied to about being saved. Then you must also ask a spirit led person to pray over you for receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Or you can learn all about this for yourself, and pray to Jesus to baptize you in the Holy Spirit. He is faithful and reads our hearts so well. He knows what it is you are honestly desiring and will give it to you. John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Especially this prayer will be answered, because He wants you to have power to do the works He called you to.

In closing dear friends brothers and sisters in the Lord, I pray for you all to understand and that I might have helped you to see a little more clearly. Never ever take my word for anything. Always pray to the Lord to clarify for you anything, and always check your word for the concept of which the Lord is speaking to us. It needs to match up or else throw it out! I am not afraid of anyone checking behind me, because I know the lord is with me and I work always under the power of the Holy Spirit. More often than not when done doing one of these articles I proof read and am awed by the Lord using me, and I say oh Lord I know I did not write this! That is the coolest thing ever!
Blessings in Him,

A New Commandment I Give You!

posted by PrayerWarrior

34But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matt. 22:34-40.

With human relations declining throughout the planet, and anger and hatred taking over completely, it is so very hard to love anyone anymore. Yet if we lose the love, we have lost our own salvation. The Loving God part for me anyway comes easy. We who have been freed from much bondage and sin and who have been forgiven much can honestly love the Lord with every part of our being. The issues come in when we have to love the unlovable people of this world.

Yet the Lord expects us to seek His heart for others, and to love them as we love ourselves. How do we do this in a world growing more and more hateful by the day? We give it to God fully and completely! Let’s look at how much Love is spoken of in the NT. Quite often, and Jesus said in John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

1 John 4:19 We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Love is the most important commandment, it is the only one according to Jesus. Everything thatis done in love cannot fail. Love does not seek it’s own, it does not boast, it does not hurt anyone in anyway. It says in 1 Pet 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

Jesus says in Matt 24:9-14 9 “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. 10 And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. 11 And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. 12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.

Let’s talk about verse 12. In the KJV it says because iniquity will abound, the love of many grows cold. That friends is apostasy! If we lose the love, we are as nothing. We are good only for the fire, we have turned from fruitful into waste. In John chp 15 we read of the vine being cut off and thrown in the fire, if it bears no fruit, it is only good for the fire. It also describes the apostles as the branches and we are included in that!
John chpt 13 it says By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

1 John 4:20 says If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? John 13:35 says “We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death”.See not loving is apostate. We must maintain no matter what we go through the Love. If we lose the love we have lost everything and all our past goodnees and or righteous deeds have come to naught.

Paul says, “owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ ‘You shall not covet,’ and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” (Romans 13:8-10) Pretty clear on that score. Love does not wrong to anyone at any time.

Jesus said in Luke chpt 6:30-36 “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” principle. He says, “Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.”

That set of verses covers a lot of territory. If we love we will go that extra mile to show the love. Imagine you borrow from someone and they give you much more than you asked for, then tell you you owe me nothing! I never want you to try and pay me back! Your head would nearly spin off your neck at such a thing. Especially in this day and age when everyone is out for what more they can get out of each other, this is unheard of.Yet it is something we should regularly be practicing. I am not talking about giving everything you have unless of course you have the faith to believe the Lord will cover you, much more than you gave.

Of course we must be doing according to the will of God as well. But we know the will of God is to love even our enemies in this way. When he said if one slap you in the face turn your cheek and present it too to your enemy. Also if one takes your coat give them your sweater too! No this is so not easy a thing to do. We are incensed at such a thing occurring. We would be absolutely flabbergasted for someone to steal our coat right off us. The last thing we would be thinking is here take my sweater too.

We would be thinking, you are so lucky I don’t grab you and beat you!! But now turn it around and think how that thief would feel like hell came down on their head, if you turned and smiled at them and said oh here have my sweater too! They would think you went nuts and they would certainly think twice about walking off with your coat and sweater. They would be heaping coals on their own head. They would be so astounded I think they would give you your coat back and walk off wondering what just happened?

How many of us do such things? How many of us think only of ourselves and our own comfort? I know I sure do. But in learning and growing in the Lord, I pray that should such ever occur, I would do the noble thing and think to myself instead of you creepy jerk! Wow the need that prompted such an action as steaing my coat right off my back, deserves to be met. Here take my coat and here is my sweater for anyone who is with you, suffering with you. Then bring them to a shop and get them lunch as well. Can you imagine that soul being won for the Lord? I sure could! So now I pray Lord help me to be blessed enough to be such a blessing to others.

Father help me to love as you love. Lord help me to see the need behind the foul actions rather than looking at the outer, help me see the inner turmoil that has caused one to do things not of the norm. Let’s think of what 1 Corinthians 13 says, if we have all the gifts of the spirit but have no love we are as a sounding brass. Meaning we are nothingbecause if there is no love then God is not in you. if there is no love you are apostate or were never his to begin with. It is getting harder and harder to love in this crazy cruel world. The sorrow to be found on a daily basis makes one shudder.

The news is filled with horrible things going on all over the world. Each moment of every day there are things being reported by the media main stream and Christian, as well as not so known news outlet’s. These are designed by the enemy to rob us of the Love of the compassion and empathy needed to maintain and remain in love. By hearing all these things seeing pictures and videos of these things going on, we become complacent and apathetic. We become desensitized to them, as they are shown often. So that we stand on the side lines and say and do nothing anymore.

Love treads where fools refuse to go. We as lovers of God and each other must stand up. We must speak and contend for truth. We must argue out of love for truth. We must make known the things of God and especially the love of God. We must be examples of the exemplary love of God at all times at all costs. I know arguing does not sound like it is right. But when we aretalking about false teachings and false beliefs it is our duty to prove the word of God to those who are lost and or not understanding. We must always contend for the truth. it is so important to believe in the Lord in truth and spirit.

In closing I pray that the Lord will help you to see what is pure true love the kind of love we all dream of being and doing. I pray the Lord open each of our eyes but especially our hearts to true deep abiding love no matter what happens. Because if we lose the love then we have lost the race, and there is no second place we must be first! As it gets harder and harder to stay in love with God andeach other, may the Lord fill us with compassion and empathy to just keep on going in Him. He who endures till the end shall be saved. That is enduring in love come what may. I pray the Lord fills us each with strength to be doers of the word and not hearers only.

Blessings in Christ Jesus,
Tammy
